Roses

Potted Rose Bushes

Our potted rose bushes are perfect for adding colour and fragrance to your deck, patio, balcony or terrace (depending on regular sunlight) without the need for large garden space. Potted roses can also be planted at any time unlike bagged roses which can only be planted in winter. Established potted rose bushes make an ideal gift for any occasion. Please note our potted roses come in various forms and may not be in full bloom or have substantial growth.

Standard Stem Roses

Standard roses, also known as stem roses, range in height from 60cm to 90cm. They’re perfect for adding height to a garden and look particularly impressive when planted in a row to create a formal look. These plants often need a stake for support. Once standard stem roses are fully established in your garden they will flower every year.

Hybrid Tea Roses

Hybrid Tea roses are among the most popular style of classic rose. These rose bushes create beautiful full petal flowers that bloom at the end of a long stem with foliage at the base. This rose style grows between 80cm and 1.5 metres tall. Many of these flowers also have a striking fragrance.

Floribunda Roses

The Floribunda rose is a modern style that was developed by crossing Hybrid Teas with Polyantha roses to create a plant that blooms large clusters of full-bodied flowers on short stems. These bushes generally grow to a height of 50cm to 1.5 metres (depending on the variety). Floribunda roses are well suited to planting together to create hedging or borders in your garden. This style is often grown and featured for the Melbourne Cup race event.

Miniature Roses

Miniature roses are perfect smaller versions of larger rose varieties. They are the smallest of the rose types with flowers as small as 5cm wide. Generally these bushes grow to a maximum height of 50cm, making them perfect for pots or garden borders. Like other rose varieties Miniatures still need sunny conditions and regular watering.

David Austin (English Roses)

David Austin spent more than 60 years developing the English rose. These roses combine the charm and fragrance of old roses with the repeat flowering of modern roses, such as the Hybrid Tea or Floribunda varieties. This rose group is known for their outstanding health, reliability and shrub-like appearance. The height of this style varies immensely. The varieties of David Austin roses chosen by Allora Rose Gardens flower regularly in Far North QLD.

Old-fashioned Roses

The Old-fashioned rose variety, also known as the Heritage rose, has a wonderful fragrance. This style is repeat flowering, often thorny and is very hard wearing in all weather conditions. Old-fashioned roses grow as shrubs and climbing varieties with varying foliage. This style is particularly popular among rose lovers.

Scented Roses

Although most roses have a scent some are much more fragrant than others. Varieties such as David Austin roses and Old-fashioned roses are highly fragrant. Speak to our team about our recommendations for other scented flowers.

Modern Shrub

The modern shrub rose is an ideal choice for large colour masses. These repeat flowering varieties are hardy, resilient and perfect for hedges or borders.

Climbers

Climbers are ideal for planting against a wall, fence or even over arches. This variety is also great for adding colour to your garden. Climbers do benefit from plant supports to encourage their growth; this will also result in more flower production.

Ground Covers

The ground covering rose is a hardy, healthy, easy to grow variety, and will withstand harsh conditions. As the name suggests this style is low growing and are ideally suited to mass planting.
